The Nurse Oncology Education Program (NOEP) is a statewide cancer education program designed to educate nurses in all fields of practice on topics related to cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship. The Nurse Oncology Education Program (NOEP) is a statewide cancer education program designed to educate nurses in all fields of practice on topics related to cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship. NOEP provides evidence-based programs based on adult learning principles in a variety of formats including traditional conferences, teleconferences, printed independent studies, and web-based independent studies.

Educational activities are based on one or more of the following: promoting behavior change to prevent cancer and improve survivorship; designing health-oriented activities to promote optimal health; collaborating with health and community leaders to assess, advocate, and monitor progress in meeting stated health objectives; partnering with other organizations responsible for improving health status; addressing survivorship issues for diverse groups; and committing to narrowing the margin of health disparities in cancer are for Texans. NOEP is guided by a steering committee comprised of nurses and health professionals representing various clinical specialty areas and key organizations across the state. NOEP staff and the steering committee annually update a strategic plan.
